Come and join us at The Bunker open day |
||
Dear Resident,
Residents are invited to another free open day at The Bunker this autumn and winter.
The Bunker is a special museum hidden in the basement of Hatfield Police Station.
The museum was created as a community engagement initiative and showcases the history of the Grade II listed police station.
The building was previously the Headquarters of the de Havilland Aircraft Company, which famously built the iconic Mosquito aircraft during World War Two.
Nowadays, it is home to a large number of police officers and staff all working hard to keep the public safe from crime.
The Bunker will be opening its doors to the public on Sunday 21 September, Sunday 16 November and Saturday 13 December between 10am and 4pm.
Visitors will learn the story of the building from its origins in 1933 as the Headquarters of the de Havilland Aircraft Company, through to its current use.
Photos, historical items, original film footage, dioramas and models will all be on display.
Police Support Volunteer Alistair Hodgson said: “These open days are a fantastic chance to celebrate Hatfield’s interesting and unique history.
“We always enjoy inviting residents along to our open days, and members from our Neighbourhood Policing Team will also be there to chat face-to-face about local concerns.”
To book your place, visit the Hatfield Bunker website at www.hatfieldbunker.co.uk and send us a message using the form on the ‘How to find us’ page, and we'll contact you. Don't forget to state how many places you wish to book.
Please note that while we welcome individuals and families, The Bunker is not suitable for children under five. | ||
